The Hellcats don’t need saving. Their drivetrains need to be harvested.

I’m not going to say this is how a lot will end up, but yeah. This is how they’ll end up.

This vehicle validates all of my prejudices about people who put vinyl graphics on their cars...especially vinyl graphics with the name of the car in garish letters.

Join millions of Americans on the drivetrain donor registry by signing up as a donor online when you register your vehicle. No car is too old or too young to give the gift of life.

The Roadkill guys had to save even the taillights the keep their car happy after the drivetrain swap. I’m pretty sure that the ECU wouldn’t be easily satisfied with just swapping the engine. There are of course good aftermarket ECUs but the modern OEM ECUs are pretty good if you can use them.

For Finnish enthusiasts the Hellcat engine don’t matter much as there is absolutely no car existing where you could legally put one of these and get it inspected.

Of course someone who put douchy graphics all over it would crash it. Now, I wonder if that engine would fit in my BRZ.

Such a great episode! There is a lot of high horsepower builds in Finland, none are street legal?

Most aren’t completely street legal as the maximum power is limited by certain rules.

With a turbocharger or supercharged engine we can have +20% power from the most powerful engine available in that certain car. With a natural aspirated engine the same rule have to followed but the engine can be upgraded with certain modifications to up to 5 kg/kW (or up to 7 kg/kW depending on what it was to begin with) power to weight ratio. This power to weight ratio will also be limiting the engine swap in all cases if this values reached before the +20% power would limit.

If we have an engine that is charged with aftermarket parts or the power is unknown for other reasons the engine have to be dyno tested. After the engine has been swapped and inspected it shouldn’t be modified. For a natural aspirated engine certain upgrades are allowed without it being illegal. But messing with the boost pressure is illegal.

But a factory made +700 hp engine cannot be fitted legally in any fun car. Nearly all sporty cars are already near the maximum allowed power to weight ratio. Maybe you could put it into some heavy weight SUV that already has +580 hp but would it really be an exciting engine swap?

And there is of course the emission standards. So cars newer than ~2000 have to pass the emission test on a chassis dynamometer. This is both expensive and hard to achieve.

So this isn’t a sight you would see in Finland?

Kinja'd!!!

Something like 3,000 bhp in race mode. Yes, it’s street legal.

Yep. That’s too much. Probably too much for Sweden too.
